Little Ducklings

Tuesday we were driving along and all of a sudden the cars in front of us put on their brakes. We veered a little to the right as we slowed down and got a good view of the problem. A mother duck was leading her ducklings across the road, just like in Robert McCloskey’s, Make Way for Ducklings. I thought to myself that it was a miracle that those little ducks made it across a busy highway at about 6:00 p.m. Is it not so, for us? We make our way through the dangers of mortality. What keeps little old us safe in all the traffic? Following those righteous leaders in our lives, that’s what! They lead us in a straight course back to the safety of our Heavenly home. It was a tender mercy of the Lord that those little ducks followed Mama duck and made it safely across the road.
