We went (per my special day request) to Hershey, PA for my birthday today. At the end of the tour, you exit through the gift shop filled with chocolatey paraphernalia. I finally decided on a big chocolate cupcake for my souvenir (I'm sure it'll stay with me longer than a silly old mug, anyway). While we waited in line, a nice couple (who Joseph mauled as we walked past them on our way to the line), struck up a conversation by asking about Joseph. The woman asked if we got to see the grandparents much, as she has a grandson the same age as Joseph. We told them we were far away (darn me, for not using it as a better missionary opportunity!), so we didn't see them much.

Anyway, they got their cupcake and just as I was about to pay for mine, the woman put the exact amount down on the counter and said, Merry Christmas! (What she didn't know is that it was really, "Happy Birthday!") What a nice thing to do! I felt loved, and it was nice to chat with them for a minute as we walked out. Even far away from parents and grandparents on my birthday, the Lord found a way to take care of me and help me feel their love.
