April 30, 2009

I was tired today. Nothing new, I guess... both kids were up last night/early this morning and I'm weaning Joseph. Lots of hormones + little sleep = tired, grumpy Mommy. When we picked Levi up from the train station, the first thing he said was, "Are you okay? You look tired." He then offered to feed the kids dinner and put them to bed so I could have a little break. I insisted that I needed to help with dinner because he put the kids to bed last night when I was out with the missionaries. The guilt of motherhood. Anyway, it took a little while and a lot of nudging from Levi, but I finally took him up on his offer.
I was too tired to go anywhere, and I wanted some quiet-- so I went up and laid down to read a book while he made mac n cheese for the kids and fed them. I couldn't believe I was able to let go and let him make and feed dinner to the kids. Wow. The part I read in the book, Marley and Me, was just what I needed at the moment.
Later, after we put the kids to bed (I couldn't let that one go...) and I thanked him, he said, "The minute I got in the car I knew you needed a break." I'm sure it was the Holy Ghost whispering to him and I am eternally grateful for such a wonderful, receptive, kind, loving, sweet, helpful husband! And for a Father in Heaven who saw fit to bless me with Levi, my wonderful children, and a much-needed break.
